Adding sprinkles to iced cakes

31st October 2019

It’s officially spooky season! My favourite time of year!

Of course, we had to release a Halloween themed Cake Bag this month too! The Trick or Treat edition features 6 fab products to help you create some fabulous bakes for your Halloween parties – all nestled inside a pretty tote bag with cute pumpkin design.

One of the products included are these bat sprinkles by Simply Topps.

These are perfect to add to freshly piped swirls of buttercream on your cupcakes and are also great to add decoration to your larger iced cakes!

In this post, I’ll show you how you can add these sprinkles around the bottom of a cake.

All you will need is an iced cake, a plate or tray, edible glue, a medium flat, food safe paint brush and the sprinkles.

First, pop the cake on a plate or tray (this catches the loose sprinkles) then paint the edible glue evenly around the bottom of the cake.

Pour the sprinkles on the plate or tray near the base of the cake, then use your hands to lift and press onto the area where you painted the edible glue.

If there are any gaps, simply fill them in with additional bat sprinkles.

And you’ll be left with a band of bats adorning the bottom of your cake!

You can then add any additional decoration and maybe a cake topper to finish!

You can also use this method to cover the whole cake with lot’s of sprinkles or why not add a band of sprinkles around a buttercream cake finished with chocolate drip and swirls of buttercream on top?

We can’t wait to see what spooky bakes you conjure up using the contents of your Cake Bags!
