20th February 2017
If you’ve got your hands on February’s ice cream cake bag, you’ll find many delights inside which you can use together!
The Beau Cornish Ice Cream flavouring is perfect for adding to all your cakes, cookies & buttercream and would even be perfect to flavour some homemade ice cream!!
The squeezy bottles from Wilton are perfect to fill with chocolate sauce or ganache to create perfect drip cakes.
In this post I’m going to show you how to use 3 of the products included in this months cake bag to create decorations for cookies or a cake with an ice cream theme.
The Kitchen Craft acrylic diamond pattern rolling pin, ice cream cutter & PME sprinkles are easy to use to create these decorations and the end result is pretty impressive!
You will also need some sugar modelling paste & food colouring plus some additional modelling tools, sprinkles & X-Acto knife.
I used Sugarflair gel food colouring in Autumn Leaf to make the waffle cone colour and used Mint & Baby Pink to make other colour ice creams!
First, roll out the ice cream cone coloured modelling paste to about 1mm thickness
Then use the diamond pattern rolling pin to print the waffle cone design onto the modelling paste
Use the ice cream cutter to cut out the shapes and set aside
Roll out some white or ice cream coloured modelling paste to cut out the ice cream part of the shape using the top part of the cutter, you can create all your favourite flavours from a simple whippy 99 to mint chocolate chip & strawberry!
Using a pointed modelling tool, imprint lines into your ice cream shape to make it look like it has been piped on top of the cones and use an X-Acto knife to cut a melted drip design
Use some edible glue to attach the ice cream design to the top of the cone
Then paint some edible glue on the surface of the ice cream and add the sprinkles
You can create all sorts of ice cream toppings using different styles of sprinkles! I used chocolate sprinkles to create the chocolate chips for my mint chocolate chip ice cream design!
These are perfect to decorate sugar cookies and would look lovely placed around the edge of a large celebration cake.
We would love to see what ice cream themed delights you come up with using this months cake bag, don’t forget to share on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter using the hashtag #cakebagcreations
