Monogram & Number Cookie Decorations

I love experimenting with shapes and textures in my cake decorating and thought this was the perfect opportunity to try out the rose gold paint included in August’s edition!

Edible paints are a great to use to bring out details in your designs so I thought I would show you how to add different textures to sugar modelling paste and fondant using a few simple tools.

First; roll out some sugar modelling paste or fondant to about 1-2mm thickness.

Use a couple of different sized ball tools to create a hammered metal effect on the surface of the fondant.

Using a small pallet knife, create criss-cross lines on the surface of another piece of fondant.

You can also use texture mats and embossers to add designs!

Using a round cookie cutter, I cut out rounds to fit the top of my cookies.

Use a large paintbrush to paint the rose gold paint over the surface of the discs.

Leave to dry whilst you create the letters or numbers then attach to the cookies using a little edible glue or royal icing. Then attach the letters or numbers using a little edible glue.

You can even make these a little thicker and add cocktail sticks to add to the top of large celebration cakes or make smaller discs to use as cupcake toppers!
