Rolkem – Using Lustre Dust

6th February 2017

Lustre dusts are a versatile medium to use in cake decorating. They come in a variety of colours to create finishing touches to your creations such as adding rosie cheeks to faces & a shimmery effect if you are creating magical cakes.

I’m going to show you a few simple ways you can use the Rolkem lustre dust in super silver that was supplied by Fabricake and included in January’s Cake Bag.

You can use the lustre straight from the pot using a slightly fluffy brush to dust onto textured decorations which not only brings out the intricate details in your designs but can add an antique effect which looks great on gothic designs & steampunk cakes

You can also mix the Rolkem with clear alcohol (I use vodka or white rum) to make a paint

You can use this to make metal details, add shine to a magical unicorn horn, use it to write messages & draw designs or add it to text using a finer paint brush

Whatever you use the Rolkem lustre dust for, please share your creations with us on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter using the hashtag #cakebagcreations. We would love to see how you use the products inside your cake bags!

Happy Baking!
