Sugar flowers tutorial

26th March 2018

In this tutorial; I’m going to show you how easy it is to use the Blossom Sugar Art Hydrangea cutter and mould to produce quick and easy sugar flowers with beautiful details!

This was included along with the Buttercup multi set so you can create really pretty flowers in a couple of sizes!

There is also a tutorial card showing you step by step insructions on how to use the buttercup cutters and mould set to create a lovely spring cake!

These cutters and mould sets are amazingly easy to use as they include a unique two part mould which gives highly detailed impressions on both sides of the flower, so they are suitable for the beginner to advanced decorator!

I love their products so much I own quite a few sets including the Daisy!

The only additional equipment you will need are a flower drying tray or former, rolling pin, non stick baking spray or Trex, a paintbrush, sugar modelling paste and the Magic Colours pink sparkle lustre dust which was also included in the Easter Bunny Cake Bag!

You can use this lustre dust to add lovely sparkle and depth of colour to all your sugarcraft by simply dusting over your creations using a fluffy paintbrush.

It really brings out the details in your designs!

To use the Blossom cutters, simply roll out some sugar modelling paste and cut out the flowers using the metal cutter.

Spray a little non-stick baking spray or use Trex to grease the flower mould so that you can easily remove the flowers from the mould.

Place the cut out flower on one side of the mould.

Fold the mould over and squeeze the mould together.

Unfold to reveal the detailed flower.

Gently peel off the mould and place in a flower drying tray.

Leave to dry for about an hour. At this stage you can add more depth of colour using the pink sparkle lustre dust. Use a fluffy paintbrush dipped in the little pot of lustre and paint from the centre of the flowers outwards until you are happy with the detail!

You can use these alongside other sugar decorations to adorn cupcakes like these pretty Spring cupcakes I created!

You can even arrange them in a beautiful Spring cupcake bouquet; which is perfect as an Easter table centrepiece that you can enjoy as a little treat after Easter Sunday Lunch!

We hope you enjoy this tutorial using a couple of the products included in your Easter Bunny Cake Bag!

We would love to see what Easter delights you are making for this weekend! Please share them with us on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter using the #cakebagcreations tag!

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter!

Happy Baking!
